BEHIND THE WORK
This cycling documentary is about setting extreme goals and reaching them, while simultaneously trying to figure out why you're setting these extreme goals for yourself.
I wanted the score to be primitive, repetitive and ruthless - like I imagine cycling 350 km a day must feel like.
At the same time, it should also sometimes feel like they reached these stages of bliss - reached through repetition and physical exhaustion.
I've walked the Camino a couple of years ago and I remember what happened mentally, when a physical task is repeated over and over during an extended time period.
Things like metal, asphalt and bike sounds in general were brought in as tactile elements in the score - both literally and metaphorically - informing sound selection, ways of sampling, rhythms and the way I wanted synthesizers to sound like.
'How To Eat An Elephant' won Best Nordic Film of the Year at NAFF Awards 2024 (Nordic Adventure Film Festival)
